Renaissance Court Gown

Properly worn over a hoopslip.

Bodice - Hip length, basque front waist, nips in at
waist for a flattering fit.  Lined, moderately boned,
back lacing. Neckline square in front, raised in back.
Front panel (stomacher) either contrast or matching.

Sleeves - Two parts, both attached at shoulder. Puffed
undersleeve with elastic wrist.   Slashed oversleeve
with buttoned cuff.

Overskirt - Split in front, knife-pleated into a flat
waistband.
Trimmed guards at front opening.

Underskirt - Brocade forepart, satin body.  
Knife-pleated into flat, adjustable waistband.  
Generally 1" shorter than overskirt.

velveteen, moire', silk.
